i've been working on this headworld since early 2019 and wanted to infodump about it here. i'd say this carrd is done but if you see any spelling errors let me know -craz

what even is a Jectile?
Jectiles are, or maybe were, unique robots with some aspects inpired by insects (e.g. four arms instead of two). They were initially released sometime in the 80s or 90s as any sort of job-doer, and were a hit around that time! They were well known for their bright electric faces.
Though they had many flaws. Jeciles can easily be damaged by water or too much electricity at once, and some would just die after some amount of time.
Around the 2000s, Jectiles as a whole started to fizzle out as every fad does. Many more were dead by this time, with most owners destroying their robo-maids themselves. The remaining Jectiles are said to have gained sentience, and their numbers have hit an all-time low - it's somewhere in the two-hundreds, none of which are relitavely close to us.
Well.. the product name likely doesn't ring a bell. Nobody i know seems to remember them.
Majors and Minors
[basic info]
Majors and Minors are the two big subcategories of Jectiles.
The biggest difference between a Major Jectile and a Minor Jectile is that Majors have some shape on their gut, while Minors have said shape on their neck or chest. Minors are also less likely to have factory errors and/or die from defectiveness. Majors and Minors don't get along too well either.
[backstory]
During the 'golden age' of the Jectile (mainly the 90s), what was known as a "Major wave" occurred, where Major Jectiles were sold. It was met with great success, with many Jectiles sold.
During the 2000s when the Jectiles were dying out like a fad, one last effort to revive them was made, known as the "Minor wave", which introduced Minor Jectiles. This wave was met with little success. Some Majors were sold alongside Minors during this phase.
stuff i just kinda typed up on a whim lol
In an alternate timeline, someone somewhere had an idea of making a robot bug that they can do whatever with! and thus, the Jectile was born (or rather made). And it was a genius idea! You could buy a Jectile and make it do anything. There were workers, housekeepers, and in rare cases, fighting Jectiles.
It's easy to say that Jectiles were a huge hit for a decade or two. But when one Jectile accidentally cracked and gained sentience, most of them would follow. An old statistic once read that 90% of all Jectiles had gained sentience by 200X, and naturally, people feared the idea of a robot invasion, so a recall was put into place.
The recall left most Jectiles dead and others injured. And then one mishap led to another, and all remaining Jectiles had left this earth.
The Main story
The Main Story follows the Jectiles that landed on Homeword, Mock world - for Mock world, think earth, but some things always feel off - and with every visitor probably jobless and/or damaged, what else is there to do besides look around and get along?
Homeworld is a temporary world for the Jectiles there until a better place is found and established. The characters in Homeworld live in tiny houses that were previously abandoned before them, and are far away from any form of human life. The tiny tax-free neighborhood also comes with a small flower patch, a pond, and a forest.
A more ideal paradise for the main group is often dreamt of.
When Project was told how scarce Jectiles have gotten, he becan to scramble and on-and-off recruit the remaining Jectiles to here, before the main group becomes the last survivors. Will they succeed? who knows.
(for homeworld, think of: music you'll never hear on tv or the radio, shabby places, imperfect landscapes, forgotten and abandoned areas, littered plains, cabins, places you only see on a long car ride)

The main story follows a ladybug named Project as they try to reach out to many Jectiles as possible; though sometimes, they spend their days around the other Jectiles with him.
The Main Group
Admittedly i like to sort them by color, but here they're sorted by their role in the story. the buttons below them link to their TH profile.
The main character! They're the most important character in the Homeworld story.
Project has a "brother" in the story named Object, but they're set to die during the events of the story.
Secondary characters! these ones are a little less developed but are prominent.
Minor characters! They're not too important but sometimes they'll interact with the higher-up characters.
Side characters. These guys just go with the flow and really live their own lives.
Stray jectiles. These guys have little to no connection to anybody in the main group.
Other info
this part's still kind of a wip so bear with me
i've been reluctant with this for like a year now, but yes you can make fan-jectiles!! all i ask is that you don't use them for your own gain, but swapping is fine. (also i'd love to see them!)i don't consider Jectiles to be an open or closed species. i tried to set up some species info for them on multiple occasions, but failed every time.not all jectiles have real "-ject" words as their names. some of which are blatantly fake (Jestiject, Sketchaject, Enject, etc)the shorthand word for jectile is ject, which is the root word that inspired the name.Though they can be masc- or fem-alligned if they wish, every Jectile is genderless by default.every jectile is either a Major or a Minor; they can't be neither or both.Sometimes names, colors, and insect species get reused among jectiles, but no two jects fully look alike.the 255 in the headworld's name is seemingly random but refers to how many jectiles are active at the time of the main story. it's bound to decrease as it goes on (e.g. Jectile 234, 211, 199, etc). The lowest it can get to is anywhere between 0 to 22.
"How'd you come up with Jectile 255?"
it's kind of a long story, so get comfy.
Before i came up with the jectile headworld, i kept changing headworlds yearly.
in 2014-2015 there was a headworld about hybrid animals hanging out.in 2016 there was a headworld that revolved around characterized emotions and was named Intolerable, and then around 2017-18, i started developing a headworld series called Spacecritters.Spacecritters had no real plot besides anthro animals in space doing stuff with space mechs involved. below are some doodles from that time.
Building off of Spacecritters, i made a virus antagonist named Object in 2019, where he initially had two arms. He later on got two more just so i could call him an ant.
After mentally scrapping Spacecritters, i decided to give Object some more fellas to hang around. These guys were insect themed. Disject's name was originally Subject, and Inject was meant to be in this, but was forgotten at the time.
These were the initial designs for Disject, Reject and Project.
